Frequently asked questions
Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
The words, paragraphs and headings carry over; the exact layout does not. Columns, tables, images and fonts are not recreated, because a PDF does not record them as structure. For editing and reusing the text, flowing paragraphs are usually what you want.
Why does my PDF come out empty?
It is almost certainly a scan — a picture of pages. Getting text out of a picture needs OCR, which cannot run privately in a browser with good accuracy, so this tool does not attempt it.
Is it safe for confidential documents?
Yes. The PDF is opened and converted on your device; nothing is uploaded, logged or stored.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
A PDF that needs a password to open must be unlocked first with its password, using the Unlock PDF tool. Files that open freely but restrict editing convert normally.
Can I convert Word back to PDF?
