In almost every stereo mix the lead vocal sits in the middle, equally loud in both speakers, while guitars, keys and backing vocals spread out to the sides. This tool looks at every frequency of every moment of the song, measures how centred it is, and separates the centre from the rest. You get two files: an instrumental with the vocal removed for karaoke or practice, and the vocal on its own.
Bass and kick drums are centred too, so by default the low end is kept in the instrumental rather than removed with the voice. Strength controls how strictly “centred” is judged. It is honest signal processing, not an AI stem splitter: instruments panned to the middle fade with the vocal, and stereo reverb on the voice can remain faintly.

Frequently asked questions
Why is some of the vocal still audible?
Reverb and doubled vocals are spread across the stereo field, so parts of them are not “centred”. Try the Aggressive setting — at the cost of a little more of the centred instruments.
Why did the bass disappear?
Choose “Keep in the instrumental” under Bass and drums. Low frequencies are then excluded from the vocal, which keeps the groove intact.
Does it work on mono recordings?
No. Separation relies on the difference between left and right, so a mono file — or a mono mix saved as stereo — has nothing to separate.
Is this an AI stem splitter?
No. It is classic mid/side analysis done per frequency band. It runs in your browser, instantly and without uploading, but AI splitters can separate drums, bass and instruments individually.
Can I use the instrumental publicly?
That depends on the song’s rights, not on the tool. Separating a track for personal practice is common; publishing it usually needs permission.
