GIF to MP4
Turn an animated GIF into a much smaller video.
Post Your GIF Where Only Video Is Allowed
Instagram, TikTok and many chat apps do not accept GIF uploads, and a 10 MB GIF is slow everywhere. Converting it to video solves both: MP4 compresses animation far better than GIF, often by ten times, and plays on every phone and platform. Open the GIF, choose how many times it should repeat, the background for transparent areas, and whether to double the size for sharper playback on phones.
Every frame is decoded with its own timing and recorded with your browser’s video encoder at the GIF’s real speed, so the motion matches the original exactly.
Key features
- Much smaller files than the source GIF, in most cases.
- Repeat 1 to 10 times, since videos do not loop by themselves on every platform.
- Background colour for transparent pixels.
- 2× upscale with crisp pixels for small GIFs.
- Exact frame timing from the GIF’s own delays.
This tool does its work inside your browser using native Web APIs. The files and text you give it are processed on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the MP4 so much smaller?
GIF stores each frame with a 256-colour palette and simple compression; video codecs store only what changes between frames, in full colour.
Why repeat the animation?
Some platforms play a video once. Repeating a short GIF three to five times gives viewers time to see it.
What happens to transparency?
MP4 has no transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with the background colour you choose.
How long does it take?
As long as the resulting video — a 3-second GIF repeated three times takes about 9 seconds.
Will the video loop like the GIF?
Video files do not loop on their own. Most messaging apps and social feeds loop short videos automatically; where they do not, choose more repeats so the animation plays several times in one file.
