What is the size limit on Discord?
Free accounts can upload files up to 10 MB; emoji must be under 256 KB. Halving the size and lowering colours usually gets a GIF there.
Why did my GIF get bigger?
It was already well optimised or it is full of noise. Try fewer colours, a smaller size or Strong lossy.
Does dropping frames change the speed?
No. Each kept frame is held longer, so the animation lasts the same time — just a little less smoothly.
Would a video be smaller?
Usually, by a lot. If the platform accepts video, convert the GIF with GIF to MP4 instead.
Which setting shrinks a GIF the most?
Resizing does: halving the width and height removes three quarters of the pixels. After that, fewer colours and Strong lossy give the largest savings, while dropping frames helps most on long, smooth animations with many near-identical frames.
