When The Paper And The Document Disagree
A4 and US Letter are close enough to look identical and different enough to cause trouble. A4 is 8 mm narrower and 18 mm taller. Print an A4 document on Letter paper and the bottom is clipped; print Letter on A4 and there is a band of white at the foot and the margins are wrong. Neither is what the author intended.
This tool rebuilds the document on the paper size you choose, with each page scaled to fit and its proportions kept. The content is transformed rather than re-rendered, so text stays selectable, links stay live and images keep every pixel they started with.

Frequently asked questions
Does this reduce quality?
No. The page content is transformed, not re-rendered: text remains text, vectors remain vectors, and images are the same images drawn at a different size. Printing a scaled-down scan at the same resolution actually looks slightly sharper, because the same pixels cover less paper.
Why is my landscape page coming out portrait?
It should not — a page that reads landscape gets a landscape sheet by default. If a page still comes out wrong, its rotation flag and its stored dimensions disagree, which this tool handles by baking the rotation into the content. Setting the orientation explicitly overrides the automatic choice.
Can I just change the paper size in the print dialog instead?
You can, and for a one-off print that is easier. Changing it in the file matters when the document is being sent to someone else, submitted to a system that checks the page size, or archived — the print dialog's choice lives only on your machine.
What does "shrink only" do?
It stops a page being enlarged. Scaling a 300 dpi scan up to A3 does not add any detail; it just spreads the same pixels over more paper and looks softer. With shrink-only on, such a page is centred at its original size instead.
Are the margins preserved?
The whole page is scaled, margins included, so the proportion of margin to content stays the same. Adding a margin in the tool adds to that rather than replacing it, which is what you want when the concern is a printer's unprintable edge.
