Keyword Density Analyzer

Count word and phrase frequency and check a target keyword for stuffing.

Check How Often You Have Said It

Keyword density had its moment around 2005, when repeating a phrase enough times genuinely moved a page up the results. That stopped working a long time ago, and writing to hit a percentage now produces copy that reads like it was written for a machine — which is precisely what the algorithms learned to detect.

The measurement is still useful, just not as a target. What it catches is the phrase you have repeated far more often than you realised, in copy that consequently reads badly.

Key features

  • Words or phrases — single words, or two- and three-word phrases, which is where real repetition hides.
  • Target keyword tracking — count and density for the phrase you are actually writing for.
  • A verdict, not just a number — flagged when the density reads as stuffing, and when the phrase is missing entirely.
  • Common words filtered — otherwise every analysis returns “the”, “and” and “of”.
  • Optional plural grouping — counts “tool” and “tools” together when that is what you mean.
100% client-side — no data leaves your machine

This tool runs entirely inside your browser using native Web APIs. Your files and text are never uploaded to a server, never logged and never shared with third parties.

How to use: Keyword Density Analyzer

  1. Paste your content
The body copy of the page, not the whole HTML.
  2. Enter your target keyword
Optional, but it is where the useful answer comes from.
  3. Choose the phrase length
Two- and three-word phrases usually reveal more than single words.
  4. Read the verdict
Above roughly 4% the copy will read as stuffed. Below 0.3% the phrase may be too incidental.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good keyword density?

There is no target, and anyone quoting one is repeating advice from fifteen years ago. If the phrase appears naturally in the title, the first paragraph and a couple of times in the body, the density will land somewhere between 0.5% and 2.5% on its own — and the number is the consequence, not the goal.

Does keyword stuffing still get penalised?

Yes. It is one of the oldest signals search engines learned to catch, and modern ranking leans on meaning rather than repetition. A page that repeats a phrase unnaturally reads worse to a human and no better to an algorithm.

Why do two-word phrases tell me more?

Because that is the level at which unnatural repetition shows up. A word like “tool” appearing thirty times is ordinary; the phrase “our free tool” appearing thirty times is not.

Is my content uploaded?

No. The counting happens in the page as you type. Draft copy you have not published yet stays on your device.
