Frequently asked questions
What must an invoice include?
In most countries: a unique invoice number, the issue date, your business name and address, the client’s name and address, a description of what was supplied, amounts, the total due, and — if you are registered for VAT, GST or sales tax — your tax number and the tax charged. Check your local rules; some require more.
Is tax applied before or after the discount?
After. The discount reduces the taxable amount, which is how VAT and GST work in most jurisdictions. Shipping is added after tax; if your shipping is taxable, include it as a line item instead.
Can I save the invoice to edit later?
Your business details can be remembered in this browser. The invoice itself is not stored — download the PDF, and keep a copy for your records as tax rules usually require.
Why is my currency shown as letters, like Rs?
The fonts built into every PDF reader cover Western European characters and a few currency signs such as $, £, € and ¥. Rather than print a missing-glyph box, other currencies are written with their abbreviation.
Is my data private?
Yes. The invoice is built by your browser; nothing is uploaded, and only the details you choose to remember are saved, locally.
