Find and Replace
Bulk find and replace across text with regex, case and whole-word options.
Find and Replace Text in Bulk
Replacing every occurrence of a word across a long document is trivial in a text editor and surprisingly awkward on a phone, in a browser textarea, or when the change needs a pattern rather than a literal string. Renaming a variable, swapping a domain across a config file, or stripping a repeated prefix from a list are all one-step jobs with the right tool.
This tool replaces across your whole text at once, with case sensitivity, whole-word matching and full regular expression support including capture group references in the replacement.
Key features
- Live preview — the result updates as you type, with a count of replacements made.
- Whole-word matching — replace "cat" without touching "category".
- Regular expressions — with
$1,$2capture group references in the replacement. - Case control — match case exactly, or ignore it.
- Apply and chain — push the result back into the input to run a second pass.
This tool runs entirely inside your browser using native Web APIs. Your files and text are never uploaded to a server, never logged and never shared with third parties.
How to use: Find and Replace
- Paste your text
Any length — everything is processed locally, so there is no practical limit. - Enter what to find and what to replace it with

Frequently asked questions
How do I use capture groups in the replacement?
Enable regex mode, wrap part of your pattern in parentheses, and reference it as <code>$1</code> in the replacement. Finding <code>(\w+)@(\w+)</code> and replacing with <code>$2 at $1</code> swaps the two halves around.
What does whole-word matching do?
It wraps your search in word boundaries, so "art" matches the standalone word but not "start", "party" or "chart". It is the option that prevents most accidental replacements.
Can I replace across multiple lines?
Yes. The whole text is treated as one string, so a plain search spans lines naturally. In regex mode, use <code>\n</code> to match a line break explicitly.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, which is why this is safe for contracts, code and anything else you would not paste into a random website.
