Frequently asked questions
Which citation style should I use?
Use the one your teacher, journal or employer asks for. APA is common in psychology, education and the social sciences; MLA in literature and the humanities; Chicago in history; Harvard in many UK and Australian universities; IEEE in engineering and computer science.
How do I cite a website with no author?
Leave the author field empty. In APA the title moves to the author position; in MLA the entry starts with the title. The in-text citation then uses the title too.
How do I enter an organisation as the author?
Put it in curly braces, for example {World Health Organization}, so it is not split into a first and last name.
Should titles be in sentence case or title case?
APA uses sentence case for article and book titles; MLA, Chicago and Harvard use title case. Tick the capitalisation option to apply it automatically, then check proper nouns.
Where is my bibliography stored?
Only in this browser’s storage. Export or copy it before clearing your browser data or switching devices.
