People blur images to hide something: a face, a number plate, an address on a letter, a name in a screenshot. The important word is hide — which means the detail has to be genuinely gone from the exported file, not covered by a layer that can be peeled off.

Frequently asked questions
Can a blur be reversed?
A light blur can sometimes be partially undone by deconvolution, and weak pixelation of known text has been defeated before. Use a strong setting: if you cannot tell what was there by looking closely, neither can anyone else.
Is pixelation safer than blurring?
Heavy pixelation is generally safer because it discards more information outright. Light pixelation of predictable content such as digits is the weakest option of all — several published attacks recover it.
Can I blur an arbitrary shape or a specific face?
